General Guidelines
General Policies
- Students shall be required to register every term upon presentation of Certificate of Registration and official university identification.
- New faculty members shall be required to secure a letter of introduction from the College Dean before they can avail the library services.
- Library card shall be required when borrowing, both print and non-print.
- Misrepresentation by showing someone else's library card is a minor offense and shall be dealt with accordingly.
Library Discipline
- Observe silence. Idle conversation, loud laughter, and other unnecessary noise must be avoided.
- In order not to disturb other library patrons, activities such as eating, sleeping or doing industrial work are prohibited.
- Keep the library clean. Don't litter on the floor or table. Wastebaskets are provided for the purpose.
- Keep things in order. Push your chair back against the table when you leave the library.
- Smoking, eating, and drinking inside the library are strictly prohibited.
- Vandalism of any form will be dealt with accordingly.
- Books must be returned properly.
- Handle books and other library resources with care.
- Students should not commit acts such as hiding and stealing books or other library property. Tearing out pages of books or periodicals and forging signatures are subject to suspension of library privileges. More serious misdemeanors shall be dealt by the Office of Student Affairs.
Arrangement and Access to the Collection
- Arrangement of Library Materials
- For AMAU books are arranged in the shelves according to the Library of Congress Classification Scheme (LCCS).
- Bound periodicals are arranged alphabetically and by title. Current loose issues are on display on counter height shelves.
- Media equipment and materials are kept in the Audio-visual Room and arranged by type and accession number.
- Theses are arranged by accession number.
- Locating Materials
- OPAC (On-line Public Access Catalog) – provides an on-line access to the library’s collection.
AMA Library System – an integrated library system for acquisition, cataloging and circulation of materials. Available database that can be searched are books, theses, and electronic resources via the URL https://library.amaes.edu.ph
